Consider this “Part One” of our August series called “Summer Heat.”
With B-Unit off for the evening, long-time listener and first-time cohost Rooster was in the building to host the show with me and talk about the finer things in life.
Because of the summer theme, we picked songs that remind us of Summer, especially during our days back in junior high and high school.
ahh, sweet, sweaty, summer memories.

We’re shinin’ bright like stars in the galaxy, mi gente!
This week we kicked it with TNT, who has been nothing but a music-making MACHINE the last 6 months.
B-Unit & I did our usual thing during the first hour, but B had a huge migraine that forced her to wear the stunna shades inside the studio…it’s all good though!
Check out this podcast for some FRESH new music & interviewation with TNT, plus a few callers in the mix (shout out to some chick named “Cherry Stem!”).
TNT keeps it real talking about the best and worst places he’s performed at, how the girls are always getting crazy during his shows, and what inspires him to write the songs he does.
Good music, good laughs, FRESH LOCAL TALENT! You can’t deny it.
El Playlist:
1. Abusadora - Wisin y Yandel
2. Boom Boom Pow - Black Eyed Peas

TURF HOPPIN’ IT, MI GENTE!
This week we had Emcee Blee in the studio talkin to us about the local movement he’s got going on in Sacramento.
He’s also nominated for a Sammie (www.sammies.com) award this year.
Check out this show for a great interview, plus a few tips from a caller who teaches me the right way to “get at a girl” in the club. Yes, we did a role-playing re-enactment. The show playlist is below our foto.

What’s good, mi gente?!
It’s been one of the longest semesters of our career! Due to time constraints, compensations, and tackling way too many projects at once, I’m gonna have to cut back on the podcast recaps!
I’ve liked being able to throw down an almost play-by-play of our podcasted shows, but the truth is I don’t have time anymore to provide such details. Así es la vida.
From now on, show recaps will be brief, but now will always include a foto with our guest(s) or whatever the highlight of the show was.
So now, please hit play, sit back, and enjoy this podcast - featuring ALL local music, plus a few surprises from B-Unit and I. The show’s playlist is below the foto…

April = allergies, mi gente!
This is the podcast recap for April 16, 2009. Please enjoy nasally voice, thanks to allergies, at no extra charge!
Tonight I wanted to highlight what I’ve been taking note of when I publish our podcasts…I write down ridiculous, out-of-context statements and clip them up and add them to my sound effects collection..
So right after B-Unit arrived, I played some of my new clips. They include some of B-Unit’s laughs, Rooster’s exclamation quotes, and Squidy-Bo’s (of 3 Stackz) advice. Hit up the podcast to hear what I’m talking about…
I gave everybody an update on how my date went at the zoo. Thanks to 3 Stackz and B-Unit, I had good game at the zoo with a lil girlie I’m pursuing…and she likes me! Haha sweet! Check the podcast to hear the story on my lil date at the zoo.
B-Unit tells us her story of how a lil black kid was making fun of her Obama t-shirt and how she almost went bad on him! Lol
In the Sports report, B-Unit revealed the names of a few freshman who will be coming on the hornet basketball squad this Fall. For example, a 280 pound, six foot nine baller! Damn! The Sac State rowing team hosted the first-ever Lake Natoma Invitational. It all went down during the weekend of April 18. See how they did, as well as all other Hornet Sports at www.HORNETSPORTS.com and catch the rest of the Sports Report on the podcast at http://djdubv.podbean.com
After a song break, Rooster called in to talk to us…about something. While he was driving to Sacramento from Santa Cruz while on the phone with us, we were playing voice-drops of him while he was talking to us.
Here are Rooster’s Party Tips to Avoid Being Arrested:
- Don’t Drink…too much
- If you’re “over the edge,” make sure you’re with cool friends.
- And if you’re “over the edge” all the time, then you’re screwed.
** Rooster has no game with girls **
Christian, B-Unit’s cousin, called in from Arizona to give us a shout-out! They stay listening to us at Arizona State University!
In the studio after the break was rapper Boobee, California born and raised!
We first heard about Boobee through AngelACE, who did a track with him called Newsflash.
Boobee chatted with us about how he came to be a rapper. Starting in high school, Boobee started spitting rhymes to just mess around. With positive feedback and insight from his peers, he stuck to it and started writing more serious rhymes. Since then, Boobee started touring local high schools and venues.
We told some stories on the air between fresh new tracks by Boobee himself. Boobee told us he’s working the internet circuit with his music while working on album to be released later this year.
Find out why he’s called Boobee by listening to the podcast: http://djdubv.podbean.com
Funny stuff!
Boobee said he wrote his song “CA” to shoot down the assumptions that people have about California-born music lately. He wanted to make a new anthem people could rock to and help rep California in a new way. Check it out!
If you wanna get yourself some Boobee tracks, you can look him up on iTunes.
One of Boobee’s biggest inspirations right now is Lupe Fiasco. Althought Lupe said he’s gonna retire, I don’t believe he will…Just look at Jay-Z, Michael Jordan, etc.
We also talked about our experience at the Mistah F.A.B. concert.
Basically, you need to put Boobee on your radar because at only 19 years old, he has accomplished more than most rappers on the scene today.
Keep it locked because in due time, you will only hear more about rapper Boobee!
Okie Dokie, here is the playlist:
- Mujeres en El Club – Wisin y Yandel ft. 50 Cent
- Let’s Get It On - TNT
- Hit The Highway – Light-Skinned Creole
- Dime – Angel y Khriz
- Blame it – Jamie Foxx
- CA – Boobee
- Rubbish - Boobee
- One Way Ticket - Boobee
And that’s how we did it!
Special thanks to Boobee for seeking us out and being on the show!
Keep it locked because there are only a handful of shows left before the semester ends!
Nos vemos, te cuidas, y te bañas,

We’re all up in Aprilation, mi gente!
From the very beginning it was me and B-Unit this time holding down the show from top to bottom!
Catching up on our week’s happenings, B-Unit and I discussed the BET show “Baldwin Hills.” Basically, it’s the O.G. “O.C!” listen to the podcast to hear this plus the whole show!
B-Unit vents about how dudes stand in a line all over school and just wait to “get at” girls that walk by. Things like “I see you peekin’ girl!” B-Unit wishes that she could just wear her spring gear in peace!
^^ This turned into an energized debate followed by an instructional recreation of the scenarios B-Unit says girls face every day at Sac State. I played the fella trying to get at B-Unit, and she stopped me when I was doing wrong and commended me for doing right…This turned into a pretty funny replay – check it on the podcast; it’s right after Ray J’s “Sexy Ladies.”
After all that madness, B-Unit delivered her Sports Report, although she almost forgot that she even had one to do! There are some legit females signing onto the Hornet’s women’s softball for their freshman year. Sac State Baseball played their last pair of double headers this Easter weekend in the Hornet’s nest. Find out how they did by hitting up www.HORNETSPORTS.com Hornet Track & Field has two Big Sky players of the week. Find out who they are, as well as catch the rest of the Sports Report, by listening to the podcast http://djdubv.podbean.com
Coming back from the break, B-Unit and I talked about the Sacramento Zoo and my special lady of interest that I will be taking there. If you didn’t know, the Zoo gets poppin’ off in the afternoons on the weekends! It’s the perfect place for a first date…
As we anxiously awaited the arrival of 3 Stackz, we got a phone call from Kron of Mentes Diferentes. Kron gave us major props and let everyone know that Mentes Diferentes has a collaboration show/block party going down Aril 25th at the Washington Neighbordhood Center in Sacramento. It’s called Arte y Música – check their myspace for more info at: www.myspace.com/mentesdiferentesofficial
Fresh in the building was Jay-Spaz and Rell P., two thirds of the rap trio phenomenon known as 3 Stackz.
Always mixing work with play, ‘Spaz and Rell gave caught us up on what they’ve been doing since we last threw down an interviewation. They just released their latest mix tape, Da Best Damn Trio, which is currently available for download off their Myspace: www.myspace.com/3stackzmusic. Apart from that, they are working on their first album and are looking to get signed…you gotta feel it!
Making Sacramento their home and establishing themselves quite nicely, Jay Spaz and Rell P told us how they write music, work out the beats, and the businessmen’s breakfasts that they have where they hold meetings to work towards their industry readiness.
3 Stackz will start filming their first music video for their new single “I’m Ready” in early May and will need to recruit a small army of video girls for the set! If you’re interested and ready, hit them up at www.myspace.com/3stackzmusic!
You gotta listen to B-Unit explain to 3 Stackz and me how to approach ladies the right way. Jay Spaz and Rell P told us how they spit their game. Hit up the podcast already to hear this ridiculous segment: http://djdubv.podbean.com.
“We don’t want no Beetlejuices!” – Jay Spaz.
The explanation of their song Raquet Man is in this podcast, along with my re-enactment of what Venus and Serena Williams sound like while playing tennis…too much! Haha
Real quick, Jay Spaz & Rell P fill the listeners in on what they like…hit the podcast to figure out what I’m talking about.
If you were wondering where Squidy-Bo, the third member of 3 Stackz, was, he called in to complete the trifecta – the three-headed monster – 3 Stackz!
Squidy-Bo put his two-cents in on their new mixtape, their future plans and all the rest of their “terrificness.”
Don’t fool yourself – 3 Stackz told us what their qualifications are for the video girls that they are seeing for their new music video. Check the podcast and find out if you make the cut: http://djdubv.podbean.com
“6,000 pounds is not cute!” – Squidy-Bo.
And that’s pretty much how we all threw it down.
Come, evaluate the playlist:
1. Agarrala – Tito el Bambino feat. Plan B
2. Sexy Ladies – Ray J feat. Truth
3. Let The Beat Knock – The Desperados
4. Newsflash – AngelACE feat. Boobee
5. Te Amo - Makano
6. I’m Ready – 3 Stackz
7. That’s My Baby Right There – 3 Stackz
8. To Da Sto – 3 Stackz feat. E-40 sample
Big shout-out to Jay Spaz, Rell P and Squidy Bo (3 STACKZ) for staying on their game and giving us legit music to play on our show!
We have rapper Boobee up in the studio next week. Until then….
